Terms of Service

Last updated: October 13, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and KnektLab ("KnektLab", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the KnektLab website, the KnektLab web app and the KnektLab companion app (together, the "Service").

By creating an account, joining our waitlist, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. About KnektLab

KnektLab is a communication coaching platform. The Service offers:

  • voice and text practice on realistic scenarios;
  • lessons matched to what your practice shows;
  • coaching feedback during and after sessions;
  • your Communication Passport: a lasting record of your progress, including your Communication Intelligence Profile (CIP) and proficiency badges.

KnektLab provides coaching and practice for personal and professional development. It is not a medical, clinical or therapeutic service. It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. If you are working with a clinician or therapist, KnektLab may be used alongside their guidance but does not replace it.

2. Who can use KnektLab

  • You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you are not, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or guardian, or through a school or organization that has arranged access for you.
  • If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it, and "you" includes that organization.
  • You may not use the Service if we have previously closed your account for breaking these Terms.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One account is for one person. Do not share an individual account.
  • Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account.

4. Plans

The plans we offer, and what each includes, are described on our pricing page. At the date above they are:

  • Free trial. 3 coaching sessions. A payment card is required to start. The 3 sessions do not expire, and you choose whether and when to move to a paid plan.
  • Starter and Professional. Individual plans billed monthly or annually.
  • Business. For teams, with a 5-user minimum, billed monthly. Annual billing is arranged with our sales team.
  • Enterprise. Custom pricing and terms, arranged with our sales team.

We may change the plans we offer and what they include. If a change materially reduces a plan you are paying for, we will tell you in advance, and it will apply from your next billing period.

5. Billing and payment

  • Prices and currency. Prices are shown in US dollars and do not include taxes unless we say so. You are responsible for any taxes that apply.
  • Payment in advance. Paid plans are charged at the start of each billing period, monthly or annually.
  • Renewal. Paid plans continue from one billing period to the next, and you authorize us to charge your payment method each period, until you cancel.
  • Payment processing. Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may limit or suspend paid features until it is settled.
  • Price changes. We may change prices for future billing periods. We will tell you before a change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel a paid plan at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until then.
  • Refunds. Except where these Terms say otherwise or the law requires it, payments are not refundable and we do not give credit for partly used periods.

6. Early access and waitlist

If you join our waitlist, we will use your details to tell you when access is available. Joining does not guarantee access, a place in any order, or a particular price.

Features described as beta, preview or early access are still being developed. They may change or be withdrawn, and they are provided without any commitment about availability or quality.

7. Acceptable use

You agree to follow our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these Terms. In short: use KnektLab for your own practice, do not misuse it or harm others, do not interfere with the Service, and do not copy or resell it.

8. Your content

Ownership. You keep ownership of what you say, type and upload in the Service ("your content"), including voice audio from practice sessions.

Permission you give us. You give KnektLab a worldwide, non-exclusive permission to host, store, process and display your content for the purpose of providing the Service to you. That includes responding in coaching sessions, giving feedback, and building and maintaining your Communication Passport. This permission lasts for as long as we hold your content.

Your responsibility. You are responsible for your content. Do not include other people's personal information or voices without their consent, and do not include anything you do not have the right to share.

Privacy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, including practice data.

9. Coaching feedback, scores and badges

  • Coaching feedback, CIP scores and badges are produced by automated systems, including artificial intelligence, from measurable signals in your practice.
  • They are intended to help you practise and improve. They can be wrong or incomplete, and they are not professional advice.
  • They are not a guarantee of any outcome, such as a job offer, a promotion, a sale or a grade.
  • They should not be used as the only basis for an important decision about a person, such as hiring, grading or discipline.
  • Badges are KnektLab's own proficiency credentials. They are not certifications from a third party.

10. Your Communication Passport

Your Passport is designed to stay with you over time, across jobs, teams and schools. While your account is active we keep your practice history so that the record can build. You can ask us to delete your data or close your account as described in our Privacy Policy. If your account is closed, your Passport is no longer available.

11. Teams, schools and organizations

  • If you use KnektLab through a Business, Enterprise or Education plan, the organization that arranged your access may be able to see information about your use and progress, as described to you when you joined.
  • The organization's administrators are responsible for the people they invite, for telling them what will be visible, and for using that information fairly and lawfully.
  • Where an organization has a separate written agreement with KnektLab, that agreement applies together with these Terms and takes priority where the two conflict.

12. KnektLab's content and software

The Service, including its software, lessons, coaching playbooks, scoring methods, design, text, graphics and trademarks, belongs to KnektLab or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws.

We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service while your account is in good standing, for your own practice or for your organization under its plan. You may not:

  • copy, modify or create derivative works from the Service;
  • reverse engineer it or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows this despite this restriction;
  • resell, rent or sublicense it;
  • remove any copyright, trademark or other notices.

13. Ideas and suggestions

If you send us ideas or suggestions about the Service, you agree that we may use them without restriction and without owing you anything.

14. Third-party services

The Service relies on other companies' services, such as hosting, payment processing and voice processing, and it may link to websites we do not control. We are not responsible for third-party services or websites, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.

15. Availability, changes, suspension and ending

Availability. We work to keep the Service available but do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, on time or free of errors. We may carry out maintenance that makes it temporarily unavailable.

Changes. We may add, change or remove features.

Suspension. We may suspend your access if you break these Terms, if a payment is overdue, if we need to protect the Service or other people, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

Ending by you. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time.

Ending by us. We may end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the Service. If we end a paid plan for a reason other than your breach of these Terms, we will refund the unused part of the period you paid for.

After ending. Your right to use the Service stops. Sections that by their nature should continue, including those on ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability and disputes, continue to apply.

16. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, KnektLab disclaims all warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that feedback, scores or other output will be accurate or will suit your purposes.

17. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • KnektLab is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising from or relating to the Service.
  • KnektLab's total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or takes away rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.

18. Your responsibility to us

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover KnektLab for claims, losses and reasonable costs brought by others that result from your content, your misuse of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where KnektLab is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory laws of the place where you live.

If you have a concern, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved quickly and informally.

20. General

  • Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. When we make a material change we will update the date above and tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
  • Whole agreement. These Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms we agree with you are the whole agreement between you and KnektLab about the Service.
  • If part is unenforceable. If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a term, that is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
  • Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
  • Notices. We may send you notices by email or through the Service.
